Evidence from the Koran That Jesus (pbuh) Was a Human Being

God states in the Koran that Jesus and his mother Hazrat Mary (pbuh) were envoys with human characteristics. The words "Both of them ate food" in the following verse are deliberately employed to emphasize this important truth:

The Messiah, the son of Mary, was only a messenger, before whom other messengers came and went. His mother was a woman of truth. Both of them ate food. See how We make the signs clear to them! Then see how they are perverted! (Koran, 5:75)

Almighty God also states that Jesus was born, that he had a childhood and that he worked his miracles by God's leave:

Remember when God said, "Jesus, son of Mary, remember My blessing to you and to your mother when I reinforced you with the Purest Spirit so that you could speak to people in the cradle and when you were fully grown; and when I taught you the Book and Wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel and when you created a bird-shape out of clay by My permission, and then breathed into it and it became a bird by My permission; and healed the blind and the leper by My permission; and when you brought forth the dead by My permission; and when I held back the tribe of Israel from you, when you brought them the clear signs and those of them who were unbelievers said, 'This is nothing but downright magic.'" (Koran, 5:110)

In another verse, Almighty God reminds the proponents of the Trinity that, like all other human beings, Jesus had no power to do anything unless God so willed it.

Those who say, "God is the Messiah, son of Mary," are unbelievers. Say: "Who possesses any power at all over God if He desires to destroy the Messiah, son of Mary, and his mother, and everyone else on Earth?" The kingdom of the heavens and the Earth and everything between them belongs to God. He creates whatever He wills. God has power over all things. (Koran, 5:17)

Of course Jesus is a human being much beloved of God, who is honored and selected by Him; he is His prophet. But ultimately he is a servant. In the Koran, Jesus calls on the children of Israel to worship the One God, against those who would deify him:

Those who say that the Messiah, son of Mary, is God are unbelievers. The Messiah said, "Tribe of Israel! Worship God, my Lord and your Lord. If anyone associates anything with God, God has forbidden him the Garden and his refuge will be the Fire." The wrongdoers will have no helpers. Those who say that God is the third of three are unbelievers. There is no god but One God. If they do not stop saying what they say, a painful punishment will afflict those among them who are unbelievers. Why do they not turn to God and ask for His forgiveness? God is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Koran, 5:72-74)

In other verses of the Koran, Jesus preaches as follows to the people of Israel:

"I come confirming the Torah I find already there, and to make lawful for you some of what was previously forbidden to you. I have brought you a sign from your Lord. So have fear of God and obey me. God is my Lord and your Lord so worship Him. That is a straight path." (Koran, 3:50-51)

Jesus preached the fact that Almighty God is both his Lord and that of all created things. The few disciples who heeded this message of Jesus spoke of him as a "messenger":

Almighty God says that He has sent messengers to Earth and makes it clear in a verse that it is impossible for them to say, "Abandon God and worship me:"

It is not right for any human being that God should give him the Book and Judgment and Prophethood, and then that he should say to people, "Be worshipers of me rather than God." Rather he will say, "Be people of the Lord because of your knowledge of the Book and because you study." (Koran, 3:79)

As shown by the evidence in these and many other verses, Jesus is a blessed and holy messenger created by God. He is a human being who is a friend of God, a prophet and a servant of God. But in no way is he the son of God; he never claimed to be divine, but sought shelter in God against that. When preaching his message he always reminded people that he was a servant of God and called on them to believe in Him.

Our Lord described those who, despite the evidence provided in the Koran and the Gospel, say that "God is the third of the three" as having "fallen into unbelief." The error of the Trinity is strongly opposed in the Koran, and is a grave and profound danger against which our Lord warns in several verses. Many of our Christian brothers today are going along with what they have been taught and are in all likelihood unaware of the scale of this profound error. The Christians in question must become aware of the magnitude of this danger.

The Koran is the last book. It was sent down to confirm the Gospel, and our Christian brothers therefore have a responsibility to pay heed to the truths revealed in the Koran. They must be open to the guidance of the Koran. This will be a blessing and a mercy for them.
